Resources & Christ-like Love
The Rock at Lake Weir Middle School is sponsored and staffed by Hope Lutheran Church with the support of Love INC. After meeting with Lake Weir Middle School principal Brian Greene, the Mission Outreach team at Hope has established an assistance resource center in the school. The Rock is a school-church partnership where the school provides space on its campus for the church to open a center that provides food, clothing, school supplies, hygiene products, emotional support and most important, the love of Christ to children in need.
The Need
At Lake Weir Middle School, about 180 students each week ask for food donations to help feed their siblings at home. 80% of the children around Hope Lake Weir Campus qualify for free or reduced lunch. Some of the children come from broken homes and don’t have adequate food, clothing, hygiene products, or emotional support. Others are dealing with family drug problems. Many do not know Christ.
What is the time commitment?
Hope Lutheran Church Volunteers operate The Rock at Lake Weir Middle School from 11:00am until 1:00pm on Mondays, Wednesdays, and Fridays.
Don't have time to volunteer?
Please donate items to The Rock! The donation bin is located in the Fellowship Hall Hallway at Hope Central Campus. The closest entrance to this hallway is where the covered walkway entrance in front. Cash donations are also accepted and can be made by either making a check out to Hope Lutheran Church and writing “The Rock” on the memo line or giving online and selecting The Rock.
