Prayer Shawl Team

A Hope-made Prayer Shawl wraps its wearer in warmth and is a symbol of the care offered by the shawl maker, Hope Lutheran Church members, and God’s everlasting love and care for all His people. Other items, such as lap robes, pocket prayer patches, and scarves are also crafted by team members.

The Need:
Shawls and other items are given either to persons dealing with life-changing events, both happy and sad, or to local hospice, nursing homes, or assisted living facilities.

Who can join the Quilters?
Anyone who can knit or crochet, or quilt a prayer shawl or other item may join the team. Team members work at their own pace and pray while they’re knitting, crocheting, or quilting.  A loving and giving heart, a non-judgmental spirit, and willing hands can join.

What’s the time commitment?
Members of this ministry make a personal time commitment to make items. Team members meet once every two months, usually with a pastor to lead in blessing the shawls and other handmade items.
