Our Narthex Servers are at all three Hope campuses and all seven services. Their main purpose is to assist worshippers with kiosks that take attendance for that service. The kiosk is a setup with iPhones. The worshiper places his or her Bar Code Name Card, which has been provided by the church office, behind the iPhone, thereby registering the worshiper's attendance for the church office only. Narthex Servers stand beside the kiosks to assist the worshipers in the use of the scanner.
The Narthex Servers are located in the narthex between the front doors and the main Sanctuary, in the hallway before entering the Hope Lake Weir Campus sanctuary & Everglades Recreation Center room. These volunteers wear name tags and greet each worshiper with a cheerful, “hello” and “welcome”. Being friendly and near the sanctuary stimulates worshipers to ask other questions of the Narthex Servers that they may have about Hope.

The Need:
It is important we have accurate attendance records to confirm voting status at congregational meetings, using barcodes allows for seamless integration with our church management system. There is also a need to assist members and visitors when they have questions. With such a transient community as The Villages, often Narthex Servers are asked for assistance locating things. Such things as the Offering Box, Informational Hallway, Tree of Life Hallway (where the Food Pantry, the Rock, and other boxes) are located at central campus. A Narthex Server volunteer must be knowledgeable about what is happening at Hope. We direct new visitors to fill out a visitor card along with handing them a church card with Hope's website and phone number, suggesting they call the office for more information.Who can join?
Anyone!
What’s the time commitment?
It is necessary for the Narthex Server to be at the campus location at least 45 minutes before the service begins in order to set up the iPhone kiosks. They are responsible for the storage of all iPhones before they attend that service.
